Nope! Your smartwatch has its own memory that lasts 24 hours at a time. As long as you are near your phone once every 24 hours it will transfer the data it has collected so far at that point in the day.
Our GoMove smartwatches do not have GPS built into them. However, the apps they use do! Your smartwatch will track your steps, distance, and calories burned without the app. If you need to track your exact route via walking, running, biking, etc. you can bring your phone with you in order to use the GPS built into the app by using the sports mode feature within the app.
Our GoMove Pro is. Our GoMove XI and Pro 2 are not. You can swim with the GoMove Pro. However, it is not meant to be worn in hot water because it breaks down the waterproof feature so we do not suggest wearing it in a hot shower, bath, or hot tub. Swimming in a pool is perfectly fine though. Our GoMove XI and Pro 2 cannot be submerged under water but are water resistant and can withstand light rain, sweat, or being splashed.
Our smartwatchs can track your health stats for a 24 hour period at a time without being connected to a smartphone but the time is set by being connected to a phone. We do not recommend using it without a smartphone.
*The time and date are automatically set by being connected to the app. If the time and date on your watch are not correct, that means that it is not synced properly to the app.
*To switch to a different watch face go into the dial center section of the app and select your preferred dial. The watch battery must be above 50% to transfer watch faces from the app onto your watch.
STEPS: The steps are pulled from arm movement. If your watch isn’t tracking your steps properly it is usually because there was not enough arm movement when walking due to carrying something or having your hands in your pockets.
DISTANCE: The distance is tracked by steps. This will not calculate driving distance or biking distance, only the distance you walk/run each day. To calculate biking distance you want to use the sports mode built into the app to enable the GPS feature.
If you want to change the measurement from km to miles open the app and select:
2. More Settings/Options
3. Unit Setting
4. Choose "Imperial"
CALORIES: The calories are calculated from the steps and distance you walk/run each day.
To read your heart rate/blood pressure, put your watch on the correct screen and wait for 10-20 seconds while it reads your stats. For the XI watch model you need to tap the screen once to begin the reading. If the screen turns off before giving a reading that usually means that your hand wasn’t still enough for it to read.
For continuous heart rate monitoring without having to check it manually go into the app and select:
2. Turn On "Continuous Heart Rate Monitoring" or "Full-Day Heart Rate".
This will automatically checking your heart rate every 5 minutes throughout the day/night and keep an ongoing record of your heart rate.
When using "Sports Mode" without the app your watch will will not track your route or use a GPS. For most sports and activities this works great. For biking we recommend bringing your phone with you and enabling the "Sports Mode" directly in the app in order to use the GPS built into the app and track your exact distance and route.
Your watch will not connect properly if it has been added to your phone's bluetooth list. If you have issues connecting, go into your phone settings and delete the device (your watch) from your "bluetooth device list". From there, connect your watch directly through the app (not through your phone settings).
The easiest way to make sure your watch is properly connected is to use the "Find" feature in the app. If your watch is connected to the app it will vibrate when you press "Find". If it does not vibrate, that means your watch is not properly connected and you need to follow the steps in the question below. If your watch vibrates but isn't registering stats properly we also suggest following the steps in the question below.
Go into the app and select "Unbind" or "Remove Device" to disconnect your watch from the app.
After that, make sure that you also delete your watch from your bluetooth list in your phone settings. From there, you'll have a fresh start and need to connect your watch through the app by following the steps below: (*Only connect your watch through the app. Do not add it to your phone's bluetooth device list)
1. Go to the app and select "Add Your Device" or "Click to Add Device"
This means that your watch isn't properly connected/synced to the app on your phone. Most of the time this is a temporary disconnection and it will reconnect on its own when you are close to your phone. A great way to see if it's properly connected is to use the "Find device" function in the app. If your watch is connected to the app, it will vibrate when you select "Find device". If it does not reconnect on its own select the "Add Device" button to reconnect your watch to the app.
